Tankard with lid

Tankard with pear-shaped body, wide mouth, and handle ending in a dragon head: painted in blue. On the sides, figures of sages in mountain landscape with rock wall and swirling mists. On the neck, a band of floral scrolls. Cloud forms on the handle. Repoussé silver cover set with a medallion of Victory and a long inscription in German. Etched legend on base, Carsten Ellers 1761 Julij. The inscription on the silver cover is probably about 120 years later in date than the porcelain.
