Terracotta Figure

A hollow terracotta figure modelled in the round of a child (perhaps Harpocrates, the son of Isis) riding on the back of a dog, perhaps the Sothic dog. The dog wears a collar. The Sothic dog of Isis was connected with the dog star, Sirius, and associated with the New Year and the annual inundation of the Nile.
