Thangka of Pindola Bharadvaja
Thangka of Pindola Bharadvaja. Pindola Bharadvaja was one of the Buddhas sixteen disciples who had reached the level of arhat and was chosen to preserve and spread the teachings (dharma). Pindola Bharadvaja – known as the ‘greatest of lion roarers’ - is shown here with his book and begging bowl. White Tara can be seen in a pavillion at top centre and Vajrasattva seated on a lotus pedestal at top right. At bottom right, a disciple is offering a vase with a lotus.
