Ivory disc incised on one side with a hand with index finger pointing out and on the other Roman numerals. Discs like this were used as tokens for admission to a theatre. Theatre was an essential feature of Greek culture, and imported into Egypt under the Ptolemies. This token was collected by Rev. Grevile John Chester in 1877. CONDITION NOTE 1998: worn, scratched, surface dirt
