Information

Bandinelli was a sculptor who worked in Florence. This drawing shows him working out the pose and angles for a sculpture of the mythological poet Orpheus. He reused the pose later for an unfinished statue of Andrea Doria as Neptune. The broken lines and bold hatching of the drawing indicate the artist working quickly to record his ideas.
