Pair of bronze tongs beaten out of a flat strip. From Buhen, the former ancient Egyptian fortress outpost in Lower Nubia (Sudan) that in 1964 was entirely submerged beneath the reservoir waters behind the Aswan High Dam. Egypt Exploration Society 1957-64 excavations, site no. K10.1, cat. no. 1580. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Small patches of corrosion, surface dirt.
