Tourist attraction

Apart from its primary function to transport workers along the Liverpool docks, the Overhead Railway also became really popular with tourists. People came from all over the world to see this exceptional structure and the Liverpool Overhead Railway Company recognized its potential as a tourist attraction. Posters and maps were created and school groups, who could book educational tours on the Overhead Railway. How exciting it must have been, riding along sixteen feet in the air, experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of the bustling Liverpool dock!
