Transgender Day Of Remembrance Events

This programme describes the events across Liverpool commemorating Transgender Day of Remembrance 2014 held at venues across the city centre. On 16 November 2014 a communion service was held at St. Bride’s Church, Catharine Street in memory of those who had lost their lives to transphobia that year. St. Bride’s prides itself on being an inclusive church and holds monthly open table services for LGBT people. The Museum of Liverpool held a wreath laying ceremony, observed a minute’s silence and held a panel discussion between Merseyside Police, Homotopia, and the local trans community on 20 November 2014. Later in the day the Trans Pride Flag was raised above Liverpool’s Town Hall and a candle lit vigil was held in St. John’s Gardens. Throughout the day FACT on Wood Street displayed the names of those who had died due to transphobia on their public screens throughout the day. The Museum of Liverpool annually commemorates Transgender Day of Remembrance.
