Information

Piece of roughly shaped limestone (has been published as sandstone) used by an artists as a trial piece. One one side there are traces of red pigment on the surface and a carved reed sign (Gardinar's Sign-List M17). On another side is a human face. Marked by the excavator in black ink 136. Find number 33/136: From the Central City: Foreign Office, area Q42.7. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete, chipped surface, surface dirt, concretions, label adhered to base. Excavated by the Egypt Exploration Society in 1933. Acquired by the EES in the division of finds. Donated to the East Anglia Egyptian Society by the EES in recognition of a contribution to the EES (excavation subscription). Donated to Norwich Castle Museum. Purchased from the collections of Norwich Castle Museum in 1956 by Liverpool City Museum (now World Museum).
