Twickenham

WAG 1009

Information

Though it looks like an effortless open-air sketch this broadly-painted watercolour was probably made in the studio. It may be associated with the drawings De Wint supplied to W.B.Cooke 1778 - 1855) for his book 'Views on the Thames', published in 1822. The art historian Tim Wilcox dates the watercolour later to the early 1840s.
