Unloading a Ship (Front); Another Sketch of the Same Subject in Pencil (Back)

WAG 9308

Information

This drawing is connected to two paintings, 'Study for a Spandrel in Liverpool Town Hall (Workmen on a Ship)' (WAG 2824) and 'Study for a Spandrel in Liverpool Town Hall (Cotton Trolley's)' (WAG 9306) also in the Walker Art Gallery collection. The design is triangular in shape because it is made to fit a spandrel - the rectangular space that is created between two arches.
