WAG 843

Information

This a view of the Neath Valley, situated in south Wales. The Valley of Neath, more commonly referred to as the Vale of Neath, is widely known for its beautiful waterfalls which are sadly omitted from Fripps view. Fripp travelled the mountainous regions of Wales and Scotland in the 1850s and 60s, and this work could have been made during this time. This is one of 30 watercolours, donated to the Walker Art Gallery by Henry S Young, on behalf of his late father Harold E Young in 1931.
