Vase, one of a pair (to LL 6524), of rouleau form, with cylindrical body and neck and spreading mouth. Powder-blue ground with glit designs. A large square panel with water scene and barge, the rest of the body occupied by a long inscription, a notable poem 'The Red Cliffs', written by Su Shi (1037-1101 AD) during his first exile. On the neck, a landscape. The gilt is much worn.
