Vase

This vase is made from white jasper which has been coated or 'dipped' in black jasper and then white jasper decoration has been applied. The white decoration is known as sprigging. Each piece of applied decoration is formed in a mould and then added to the vase. The decoration depicts classical gods and there is also a band of decoration above the gods depicting the signs of the Zodiac.
