Information

This vase, shown in the centre of the photograph, was designed for decorative use and it may have been set within a group of items, perhaps above a fireplace on a chimneypiece or in an alcove. The glaze that Wedgwood has used is designed to make the vase look like it has been carved from a hard stone such as granite. The gilded parts of the vase are meant to imitate metal mounts. The front of the vase has an applied gilded relief figure of Apollo.
