This is the largest vase Wedgwood ever made in jasper, it is a copy of the Borghese vase. The original vase is an ancient Greek marble vase made for the Roman market. The relief around the body shows worshippers of Bacchus escorting a drunken Silenus. The vase is called the Borghese Vase after the Borghese family who acquired the original marble vase in 1566.
