Pottery funnel necked pot with round base and painted bands on the upper part. John Garstang’s excavations at Meroe in Sudan were mostly focused on the city and its surrounding structures. His team also cleared groups of tombs in nearby cemeteries and found large quantities of handmade beer jars like this one. Marked GN 50 (Garstang Nubia 50).
