Deep cup (skyphos), painted in the red-figure technique. South Italian. Attributed to the Liverpool Group, a group of unknown Apulian painters active from 340-320 BC. Trendall named the group of painters from this skyphos. Under each of the handles the decoration is of large elaborate palmettes and split palmettes. Side A has a seated female figure holding in her right hand a casket and with her stretched down left hand a bunch of grapes. There is a sash in the field. Side B has a winged Ero seated facing to the left and holding with his bent right hand a cista and the left hand stretched down and holding a wreath. There are grapes and rosettes in the field.
