Vessel

1973.1.489

Information

Blue faience long-necked jar or flask. Raised pattern band decoration. Restored from several broken fragments and partly filled (conservation treatment in 1972 and further work 2008). Base does not survive. From the North Suburb at Tell el Amarna, area T33.10 (excavation find number 31/295). Thought to be New Kingdom (compare shape with catalogue number 173 in Barbara Aston, 'Ancient Egyptian Stone Vessels Materials and Forms', Heidelberg, 1994); but fabric is similar to much later faience production and marked as 'Roman' on EES Amarna Object Card.
