Information

Head of a gazelle or ibex broken away from a painted blue ware pottery vessel. Broken at the neck with ears and horns missing. Rectangular sticker on the back with ink annotation "Tel el Amarna I. 78". On underside of the wooden base is a round auction sticker annotated 188/60; a rectangular label with perforated edges on three sides, annotated H. Price; marked in pencil I 78. Acquired by Frederick Hilton Price at Hillingdon on 29 November 1895, lot 188. Purchased for Sir Henry Wellcome at Sotheby's, London, 12-17 July 1911 (Hilton Price collection). Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession number 25992.
