View in the Lake District (Coniston)

WAG 6375

Information

This drawing is thought to depict a view in the Lake District, probably Coniston, a small Cumbrian village and the former home of John Ruskin. This drawing was acquired with a collection of drawings by Samuel Williamson (1792 - 1840) in a portfolio labelled 'S. Williamson sketches' from the Mayer Collection (WAG 6371 - 6414). It was previously attributed to Williamson but is now thought to have been made by a member of the British School.
