Several fragments glued to card, signed by Constantine Simonides. Inscribed in Greek text in 1860 by Simonides; which he described as being an account of the voyage of Hanno, the 5th/6th century BC Carthagian navigator. The papyrus is most likely ancient but the text is a modern forgery. Dimensions of the papyrus 320 mm x 180 mm; dimensions of the card 340 mm x 243 mm. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Unsuitable mount under glass, loose inside mount, discolouration.The card mount is marked in pencil G.
