Walking Stick

A walking stick with a looped handle. There are two male human figures and a human face carved on the loop and top two thirds of the stick. Below this are manaia (bird-like profile heads) and koru (bulbed hook shapes) with crescent-shaped ridges on the lower third. Other surface patterns are taratara-a-kai (notched zigzags between ridges). The eyes are shell-inlaid. Other shell inlays are circles, ovals, star shapes and rectangular strips. The stick is broken in two, with some shell inlay missing.
