Wall Relief of Horemheb (Forgery?)

1967.210

Information

Relief carving of King Horemheb wearing the blue war crown facing left and holding out an incense burner with his right hand. In front of him are the two cartouches of Horemheb: Djeserkheperura Setepenra. Very weathered surface. Plain unlevel back with a fragment broken and mended in place at the top right corner. Circular label stuck to the surface marked 776. Purchased for £275 with an Abydos provenance in 1967. Now suspected of being a modern forgery.
