Weapon; Club

A whalebone wahaika (hand club) with two human figures carved on the blade and a notch on the other side. There is a carved face at the end of the butt, and a straight-sided round hole through the butt. The main figure has prominent ribs and holds a kotiate (hourglass-shaped hand club) in one hand and the head of the second figure in the other. The carved face on the butt may be a manaia (bird-like profile head) . The main figure has shell-inlaid eyes.
