Mottled green and black stone weight (or burnisher), round topped, flat base Auction sticker stuck to the surface and label "Abydos".
CONDITION NOTE (1998): Worn, pitted, surface dirt, label adhered to surface.
Wellcome Historical Medical Museum 17259: One rubber in mottled green stone 1¼" high from Abydos. Purchased by Mr Wilkes for Sir Henry Wellcome at Sotheby's London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (MacGregor collection) Lot 1085/5: "Two Drill-heads, of hemispherical form, the cavities highly polished by the action of the drill, in black basalt, 2 1/2 in. diam.; a hematite Rubber, 1 1/2 in. high; another, in basalt; and a third, in mottled green stone".
