William Roscoe's Study at Lodge Lane

This watercolour shows the study of the Liverpool attorney, banker and MP, William Roscoe (1753 -1831). It was at 180 Lodge Lane, Liverpool where Roscoe moved in 1822. It is one of three known copies after the original by Samuel Austin. Austin's version was exhibited in 1908 at the Historical Exhibition of Liverpool Art (no.911) at the Walker Art Gallery. Two further copies, by MC New and Mrs Henry Roscoe are in Liverpool Central Library.
