Yvonne Kaye

Information

This drawing of a woman called Yvonne Kaye was probably made when Hay was in London in the years just before he died. No information has been found so far about Kaye herself. There is a book on the table on Edgar Degas (1834-1917), illustrated with one of the French artist’s studies of a ballet dancer. Degas’ name is written back to front on the book because Hay intended to use the drawing as a study for a print of the same name, also in the Walker Art Gallery collection.
