The creative talents of The Beatles were not limited to their musical abilities. John Lennon and his original bandmate Stuart Sutcliffe both attended the Liverpool Art School and have received wide acclaim as artists.
Sutcliffe left Liverpool in 1960 to play bass guitar with The Beatles in Hamburg night clubs. He eventually left the band to attend Hamburg Art School, where his tutor was Eduardo Paolozzi. You can read more about Stuart Sutcliffe and see other items from our collections in the web pages for the former exhibition Stuart Sutcliffe and The Beatles, held in 2003.
