This is part of the LGBTQ+ collection.
They include LGBTQ+ individuals from the city who have made significant contributions to society. We have also picked out several LGBTQ+ artists and designers, from across the globe, who have made significant contributions to cultural heritage and whose life stories have resonated with contemporary LGBTQ+ communities. Others are historical figures that feature prominently in objects within our collections and have been widely embraced by LGBTQ+ people.
Some identified as LGBTQ+ within their lifetimes, others didn’t, or couldn’t, and are only now being celebrated and recognised.
