Of Time and the City

About this object

Of Time And The City, 2008
Produced by local filmmakers Roy Boulter and Solon Papadopoulos, writer and director Terence Davies’s emotional documentary is a personal meditation on his relationship with the city. Composed largely of archive footage and at turns nostalgic, angry and funny, Of Time And the City is a moving eulogy and love note to the city he left behind in 1973.
An early scene in the film reveals a lost Liverpool - the Lumiere Brothers 1897 film footage of a journey aboard the Liverpool Overhead Railway - with tantalising glimpses of over six miles of docks laden with ships from around the globe.
