Cunard commemorative medallion

About this object

This Cunard Line medallion marked two important events for Liverpool in 1907. That year the city celebrated the 700th anniversary of its Incorporation, and the long awaited arrival of Lusitania and Mauretania arrived after years of immense anticipation.
The obverse depicts Lusitania/Mauretania at sea. The reverse refers to the Incorporation in 1207, showing a Viking ship in the Mersey, with Liverpool Castle behind.
