Lead curator of archaeology and the historic environment
Liz is an archaeologist with research background in buildings archaeology, who has undertaken fieldwork and research on sites covering many periods. Liz curates the regional archaeology collection, using objects to explore the stories of the region's archaeology.
Assistant curator, regional archaeology
A specialist in medieval and post-medieval ceramics from the North West, with over eighteen years experience with the University of Liverpool, North West Archaeological Trust and National Museums Liverpool and special responsibility as finds post-excavation manager.
Vanessa Oakden PCIfA
Curator of regional and community archaeology
Vanessa has a background in fieldwork, small finds and community archaeology. Vanessa curates the regional archaeology collection and develops community archaeology projects. These have included excavation, graffiti recording, talks, events and finds workshops.
Finds liaison officer
Heather has participated in various archaeological projects in the North West of England as well as in Italy. She has held the post of Finds Processor for the Archaeology at Halmyris excavations in Romania since 2018. As the Portable Antiquities Scheme’s Finds Liaison Officer for Cheshire, Manchester and Merseyside, Heather records objects from Prehistory to the 1700s and has a particular interest in the Roman period.
