Sara Davidmann is a visual artist and photographer. Her project ‘Ken. To be destroyed’ opened in the Museum of Liverpool as part of the un-straight museum conference.

It was a family secret that Davidmann’s uncle Ken (K) was trans*. The family attempted to erase this from history and the family photograph album depicts K as male. This project uses family letters circa 1950, vintage photographs and photographic processes to tell the story that is missing from the family album.

*Definition: trans/transgender – an umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or gender expression differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.
