Celebrate the Chinese Year of the Horse at National Museums Liverpool!
Over the coming weeks, National Museums Liverpool has a host of free events and activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
This year Chinese New Year will fall on Friday 31 January so why not get ready by making a Chinese lantern or theatre mask at WorldMuseum on 25 and 26 January and 1 February?
Visitors to MerseysideMaritimeMuseum on 8 February will be in for a treat as Liverpool’s Hung Gar Kung Fu Club performs a spectacular lion dance from 1pm.
Celebrate with music from the Chinese Pagoda Youth Orchestra and further performances from the Hung Gar Kung Fu Club at the Museum of Liverpool on 8 February from 3pm. Plus, don’t miss China Pearl’s Fenfen Huang performing her mesmerising Chinese dance at the Museum on 9 February from 1.30pm.
Visitors can learn more about the history of Liverpool’s Chinese community and the city’s special relationship with Shanghai in the Museum of Liverpool’s GlobalCity gallery.
The Hung Gar Kung Fu Club will be dancing their way over the water to perform at the LadyLeverArtGallery on 16 February from 1pm.
Looking ahead to half term, keep the little ones busy with Chinese New Year arts and crafts at the WalkerArtGallery and Lady Lever on 18 and 19 February.
