A framed, mounted print of a reproduction of Yellow Helmet Walking by the Reeds, Taki Katei (1830-1901) drawing, ink and colour on paper.
In China, “Yellow Helmet” was the highest rank attained through the official examination system, and so the theme suggests someone who pursues their goal with determination. The “yellow helmet” is the crab, and the motifs of crab and reeds were often combined with a full moon to create a contemplative mood.
The print has been designed and made in the UK exclusively for National Museums Liverpool.
