A slate sign made exclusively for National Museums Liverpool by The Personal Present People. The sign feature our Liverpool Skyline image designed by local artist Tracy Worrall.
The Personal Present People company was founded at the beginning of 2019 by Simon Morris who creates slate products in Connahs Quay, Wales. Simon is commited to using local slate and each piece is hand riven (split) from a block before it is cut to size.
Each slate is different, with patterns and "imperfections" in the material on some you can clearly see how the mud flowed into a pool before it was set over millions of years into hard dark Welsh slate. On many of the slates you can see iron pyrite (know as fools gold) on some of the slates the little flecks look like the night sky over Liverpool.
The rope has been sourced from the Dockyard Trust in Chatham who are keeping the only traditional rope works in the country alive. the rope is made of 100% sustainable hemp fibre. The sign comes in a recyclable, brown, Kraft paper box.
