This session provides a unique opportunity for pupils to develop drawing skills while inspired by the Lady Lever Art Gallery collections.Close
The session can be booked Tuesday to Thursday at 10.15am, 11.30am and 1.15pm.
This session begins with a brief introduction to William Hesketh Lever, the Gallery and Port Sunlight village using historical images and soap. For pupils who have never visited an art gallery before there is discussion about what they expect to see during their visit and an opportunity to ask questions.
A range of artworks are introduced and pupils are encouraged to say what they see, feel and think about the paintings, sculptures and their surroundings. Pupils interact with the artworks through a series of drawing tasks which begin as warm up exercises. These encourage pupils to observe, experiment, and develop their drawing skills.
As the session progresses the drawing tasks become more in-depth allowing pupils to expand their own creativity, make first-hand observational drawings and develop ideas. Pupils are encouraged and supported with their drawing by the member of staff leading the session. All work produced during the session can be taken back to school and added to sketchbooks.
