How can we celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee? How did Lord Lever use advertising to create a soap empire? What should my soap look like?
Join us for this Jubilee soap making workshop as part of our Centenary Celebrations at the Lady Lever Art Gallery and answer all these questions!
This workshop is only available on 17, 18, 20, 24, 25 and 27 May, at 10.15am and 1.15pm.
Students will learn about Lord Lever’s revolutionary use of paintings to advertise his soap, explore the connection between Lord Lever and the Royal Family and look at examples of commemorative art within the gallery’s collection. Students will then get to make their own personal bar of soap to take home.
This workshop fits perfectly into the Fundamental British Values framework, as well as giving students a great opportunity to discuss persuasive language. It is also a wonderful introduction to the collection at the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
There are a limited number of workshops, so book early to avoid disappointment.
