Enjoy a spooktacular school holiday this week with fiendishly good events at National Museums Liverpool. From creepy crafts to a spooky tour, there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained at our museums and galleries. Here’s our frightful five highlight events to add to your calendars: Creepy crafts at Sudley House, 27 & 28 October, 1-4pm Make some Halloween crafts at Sudley House to take home with you. Don’t forget to visit the Childhood room with traditional children’s toys, have a run around our beautiful gardens and relax with tea and cake in our lovely tearoom. Spooky Tour at the Lady Lever Art Gallery, 28 October, 1, 2, 3pm Join our spooky guide Pesta for a family-friendly tour of the Lady Lever Art Gallery and hear some of its scary stories. Spooky Craft at the Walker Art Gallery, 29 October, 10am-4pm Come along to Big Art for Little Artists, our dedicated children’s gallery at the Walker Art Gallery, and take part in some spirited crafts. Look out for the giant inflatable Felix the Cat, part of Zoo Logic by Mark Leckey, then relax with a Halloween cupcake in the café. Lantern crafts at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, 27 & 30 October, 1-4pm Get ready for Halloween and create your own spooky lantern to take home in this fun family workshop at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Day of the Dead at World Museum, 29 & 30 October, 1-4pm Head to World Museum this weekend to find out more about Mexico’s Day of the Dead, where death is a lively, colourful celebration. Cemeteries and streets are filled with skeleton and skull decorations, bright flowers and candy. Special food is prepared, and music and dancing create a carnival atmosphere to honour the spirits of those who have died. Whether that includes the ancient Egyptian animal mummies that feature in our Animal Mummies Revealed exhibition, we don’t know – but check them out, plus plenty of ghoulish gifts in the pop-up shop on floor two!
