National Insect Week 2014 drew to a close this weekend with more engaging insect related events and activities at World Museum.
We were 'buzzing' on Saturday when local bee keepers Doug and Elaine Jones flew into the bug house with their observation hive, and waxed lyrical about bees and beekeeping in general. Doug has nearly 40 years experience, including working as DEFRA Bee inspector for the North West for 15 years.
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) returned for a second weekend to captivate visitors with their live insects, and talk about some of the life saving research they undertake.
Despite the lovely weather outside there was a great response to this years program of events and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who gave up their time and enthusiasm to help make it such a success. National Insect Week will return in June 2016.
In the mean time, you can still enter our Bug House photography competition, by sending us a photo of your favourite insect! There are great bug prizes to be won, so get your entry in before 1 September. Find out more and enter here.
