Chefs at the Maritime Dining Rooms
Our catering and events team enjoyed a busy festive season and is looking forward to an exciting 2014. Do you want to be part of our team?
More than 5,000 people attended Christmas parties at National Museums Liverpool - the most successful festive season ever for party bookings. Our venues are unique. Where else can you enjoy great food and great service in the unrivalled atmosphere and setting of a national museum?
As we build on recent successes and look to the future, there are three positions we are looking to fill: Head of Catering
, Chef de Partie
and Senior Pastry Chef.
Closing date is Friday 31 January.
Melanie Lewis, Director of Commercial Operations at National Museums Liverpool, explains why working here is so special: “Being part of our team is about directly enhancing the visitor experience and ultimately that's what we're all about.
“The Head of Catering is a special job because commercially your motivation for generating profits is so we can reinvest in the museums and in turn visitors. Not many commercial jobs have that sense of purpose. It's an opportunity for someone with vision to really put their mark on something.
“As we are not a contract caterer/retailer, we have the freedom to be innovative and different. We're not constrained by a global contractor who doesn't understand the individual identities of each venue and our visitors.
“Practically - the hours are great. For 75% of the year you have a great work/life balance. That doesn't happen anywhere else in catering. These jobs are great if you have a family and want to be flexible - it's a real issue for caterers that have families because the majority of shifts are long or split.
“Our catering division ranges from sandwiches to fine dining. Not many roles would encompass such a wide cross section of the caterer industry - that makes it constantly exciting and challenging.”
