Here in Big Art, we had spring in our steps as we welcomed visitors to our ‘share a story’ themed Toddler Time sessions celebrating World Book Day 2018. We shared the feel-good book 'Hooray for Hoppy' by author Tim Hopgood, about a little rabbit called Hoppy who is eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring ( like most of us at the moment). The book takes Hoppy from winter to spring, exploring sight, smell, touch, taste and sound, as he hops through each page curiously hopeful that spring is on the way. Our lovely visitors took off their warm winter coats, woolly hats and scarves, eager to join in with an array of colourful springtime activities and to have some fun! Big Art was filled with the laughter of babies and toddlers as they made terrific telescopes, sketched spring themed pictures, dressed up in animal costumes and made pretty playdough creations. Our very own hoppy smiled out happily from our springtastic wall display, complete with a fluffy tail as he took in all of the joyful sights. Melissa and I were happy little bunnies leading the way around Big Art, wearing fluffy bunny ears, and our little visitors hopped towards the story zone decorated with colourful book day bunting. The sound of magical music filled the story zone as Melissa began the rabbity rhymes. Little bunnies in the form of delighted dancing toddlers, hopped, hopped and hopped around the story zone until their hearts were content. The little bunnies smiled as I handed them a special book day certificate for sharing a story with us. Off they went in their warm hats, scarves and coats, and after all of the fun was done, sitting warm in the burrow of our office, I thought oh what a hoptastic day!
