Lions, Dragons, and Mummies this half-term

Chinese New Year festivities continue into half term at the Lady Lever Art Gallery. Celebrate the year of the Rooster with some lion dancing by China Spirit UK (25 February) and learn how life-size lion puppets use special dance steps to bring the lions to life. The fun doesn’t stop there, make a lantern in a special workshop (25 & 26 February) and then take it on parade around Port Sunlight later that evening. Travel to outer space this half-term at the Walker Art Gallery. Create your own alien or astronaut in an intergalactic workshop (20, 21 & 25 February). Wish upon a shooting star in craft sessions (20-22 February); make your own star and then a wish, what will you wish for? Over at the Merseyside Maritime Museum visitors can go back in time to 1912 to find out more about one of the most famous shipping liners, the Titanic. Find out what it was like to live on board the Titanic, the music that was played on board and what passengers would have worn while on board. Animal mummy Peak your Valentine's curiosity with a visit to World Museum's Animal Mummies Revealed. Image © Animal Mummies Revealed enters its final few days during half-term. Don’t miss out on seeing this fascinating exhibition at World Museum, exploring Ancient Egyptian animal mummies, prepared in their millions as votive offerings to the gods. The Ancient Egyptians worshipped more than 2,000 different gods; some were even half human, half animal. Find out more in a workshop (18 & 19 February) and make your own Egyptian god puppet. The International Slavery Museum is putting on a free showing of the Disney film The Lion King (24 February).
