On Saturday 6 December we are encouraging everyone to take part in 'Small Business Saturday'. It's great to support smaller, local businesses to help them to thrive, but it's also a good way to find interesting gifts too. You can also escape the hectic Christmas shopping crowds in the city centre and browse our museum gift shops or online shop. Karen O'Connor, our Head of Retail, has chosen her perfect presents for this season to help you decide... "If you need a gift for someone who loves to be organised and co-ordinated, then our aviary accessories are perfect. The aviary make up bag from our Lady Lever Art Gallery shop has a pretty floral design with statement birds and a nifty double zip with decorative bird cage zip pulls. It's a great size with room to fit in all the essentials and there is a matching satchel and purse too. For me, Christmas is all about the children - although I'm sure this super soft, cuddly snow leopard would melt the hearts of people of all ages. It's one of several plush toys available from our World Museum gift shop and online shop. There are also lots of pocket money gifts which make great stocking fillers for little ones, whether they are into dinosaurs, snakes or even space travel. I sometimes find it challenging to buy gifts for those friends and family who seem to have everything! Try to look for something quirky that they'll find both useful and witty - our Scouseware mugs from the Museum of Liverpool shop could be just the right gift. With classic Scouse phrases such as 'Soft lad' and 'Scouser born and bred' they are ideal for those who are a little tricky to buy for." Browse through our unique gifts and if you choose to shop with us you'll not only be supporting Small Business Saturday, but as all profits are returned to our museums and galleries, you'll be supporting the ongoing work of National Museums Liverpool too.
