One lady who enjoyed the Cunard Transatlantic 175 events last weekend is Maura Doyle. Her family arranged for her to spend her 95th birthday celebrations in Liverpool so that she could mark the special anniversary, including a visit to Merseyside Maritime Museum.
One of her most memorable experiences was sailing from Liverpool to New York on board MV Britannic, departing on 28 August 1953. She spent a year over in America, staying with her auntie who had emigrated some time before.
As a result of her amazing trip, she has always been very interested in our enduring transatlantic links, her family’s travels and all-things Cunard.
According to her niece Kate Warner, she was delighted to celebrate Transatlantic 175 and American Independence Day here in Liverpool, so close to her birthday on 6 July.
We are so glad to know that she enjoyed our
Cunard 175 display and the numerous events on the Waterfront.
