Sculpture collection

About this collection

The Walker Art Gallery's sculpture collection is particularly known for its outstanding collection of works made between the 18th century and the First World War, from the high period of neo-classicism to the era of 'New Sculpture' in Britain.

The collection also represents some of the main movements in European sculpture between these two dates, including 18th-century classicism in the marble sculptures from the Ince Blundell collection, and the birth of modernism in pieces by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917).

Mid-20th-century and later sculpture are well represented too, and include pieces by Jacob Epstein (1880-1959), Barbara Hepworth (1903-75), Henry Moore (1898-1996), Ivor Abrahams (born 1935), Kate Blacker (born 1955) and Paul Morrison (born 1966).
