The Gay Times Honours 2018 was held at the Walker on 8 November, recognising, celebrating and amplifying the work of individuals and organisations who have made a tremendous impact on the lives of LGBTQ people over the past year. From over 600 nominations, the judges selected 12 Honourees that embody not only the spirit of Gay Times Honours, but the inspiring resilience and strength of the wider LGBTQ community. Each Honouree has been immortalised in a portrait by the artist Ed Firth, displayed in room 13 at the Gallery. These Honourees, and indeed all those nominated, demonstrate the power of LGBTQ people. To see the shortlist in its entirety, please head to gaytimes.co.uk/honours.
Gay Times has been a vital resource for the LGBTQ community from its genesis in 1974. Whether that’s been spreading crucial awareness on policy changes and the ongoing fight for liberation, to the latest in celebrity, TV, film and music: Gay Times represents the truly multifaceted nature of the queer community.
