Vase, Keith Murray for Wedgwood

1930s, Earthenware, Lent by B. Meyer
This understated vase with its beautiful blue glaze is by one of the finest Modernist designers, Keith Murray. Murray began working for Wedgwood in 1932 and went on to design numerous pieces of tableware. He demonstrates his training as an architect with his elegant use of simple sculptural forms. Possibly made as a prototype, this vase is very rare.
