'Temptations of a Poet', SP Howarth

Painting of a man in a street of red buildings at night

oil on canvas, 40.8x51cm

Lives in Balham and desperate to get out of London. Wants to get to Parnassus. Works in a video shop. Obsessed with sex and violence. Is not violent, but is severely dyslexic. SP (Steven) Howarth's conflict with Camberwell Art College became national news with a story in The Times titled 'Students accuse art college of failing to teach them the basics'.

SP comments,

"I was told my paintings didn't count as work, because Camberwell was an 'ideas-based' college. I said my idea was to paint what I felt. I was told this didn't count as an idea."
